Winter’s Warm Sunshine Melodies Concert

Under the expert guidance of Conductor Joanna Ng D’agnone and Artistic Director Amely Zhou, the Winter Melodies concert promises an enchanting musical journey featuring a repertoire that spans the rich cultural tapestry of the Chinese Nation, including classics like “Chrysanthemum Terrace” and “Golden Sun in Beijing.”

Toronto, ON – November 25, 2023 – Canada One Family Network is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated Winter’s Warm Sunshine Melodies Concert, presented by the Canadian Chinese Orchestra. The event is scheduled to take place on December 9, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, at The Salvation Army Agincourt Community Church, located at 3080 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, ON M1W 3K3. This event is a free community event for families and friends to learn about the rich Chinese musical arts and it happens once in a year!

Starting October 16th, 2023
Learn your favourite Chinese instrument with a professional musician virtually. A total of 30 weekly online classes. Small class sizes of 3-5 students.

Erhu, Guzheng, Pipa, Yangqin

55 years old+. Instruments will not be provided, but we have offered a rental program upon request.

The Epiphany | Canadian Chinese Orchestra

To celebrate the New Year of the Tiger, the Canadian Chinese Orchestra presents to you The Epiphany, our seasonal concert to be held on Saturday, February 26th, 2022, at 7:30pm EST! Streamed live on Youtube, the concert will feature a vibrant selection of performances by the Canadian Chinese Orchestra, the Millennium Chinese Music Workshop, and a showcase of the students in the Seniors Music Learning Program funded by the Government of Ontario. Joanna Ng D’Agnone | Guest Conductor for 2021-2022

Joanna Ng D’Agnone | Guest Conductor for 2021-2022 Joanna Ng D’Agnone holds Master degree of Orchestral Conducting (Northern Illinois University) and Bachelor of Piano Performance (Queen's University). She has extensive experience in solo performance and accompanying instrumental groups and choirs in Toronto, Vancouver, Kingston, Toronto, DeKalb, IL, and Hong Kong. She is a registered RCM teacher, Suzuki Licensed Instructor, and a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA). With her own music studio, she offers private lessons in piano/flute/theory/singing for all ages from beginner to ARCT in English and Chinese (Mandarin & Cantonese). Her teaching style focuses on a well-rounded approach of techniques, musicality, sight reading, and music appreciation. Seniors Music Learning Program

Are you over 55 years of age and interested in Chinese music? If so, our Seniors Music Learning Program is just for you! Sponsored by the government of Ontario, the program is free of charge and will take place from December 6th, 2021 to February 26th, 2022, where you will learn to play a Chinese instrument of your interest and participate in a memorable performance together. CCO is back for the 2021-2022 Season!

CCO is back for the 2021-2022 Season! The Canadian Chinese Orchestra will be resuming activities for the 2021-2022 Season, and we warmly welcome any individuals who are passionate about Chinese music to join us! We are accepting new applicants who can play a Chinese instrument: Erhu, Pipa, Dizi, Yangqin, Guzheng, Ruan, Cello, Suona, Sheng and Chinese percussions! You can either join as a member of the Canadian Youth Chinese Orchestra (for youths under the age of 25) or the Canadian Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra (for adults), for both options of online learning and a combination of online and in-person learning experience!  Registration Open until September 30th Audition Video submission by October 7th Rehearsal starts October 17th Sunday 3:30-5:00PM For audition, you will need to send in a recorded video of you playing a music piece of no less than two minutes on your instrument. Chinese Music Summer In Class Program

Chinese Music Summer Camp Co-presented by Yip’s Canada and Canadian Chinese Orchestra Chinese Music Summer Camp Co-presented by Yip’s Canada and Canadian Chinese Orchestra If your child wants to explore Chinese music and be rhythmic at the same time, this Chinese Music Summer Program is perfect for your child! We will be making some noises together with the Chinese instruments such as the Erhu, Zhongruan, Guzheng and Flower pot drums! A good way to set a good musicianship foundation for your child’s music learning experience. Besides music, we will also learn about Chinese paintings and calligraphies. To learn to appreciate the art of Chinese cultural heritage.  Most of the Classes will be conducted outdoors in the shades, instruments will be assigned and won’t be shared among students.
