Canadian Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra CPCO
Request for Audition

The Canadian Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra (CPCO) is the adult division of the Canadian Chinese Orchestra (CCO). Founded by CCO’s Artistic Director Amely Zhou, CPCO is an audition-based ensemble designed for adult musicians—both amateurs and dedicated hobbyists—who are passionate about learning and performing Chinese orchestral music. The orchestra provides a welcoming environment where members can continue their musical journey, build skills, and connect with others through shared cultural and artistic interests.
CPCO plays an active role in community engagement across the Greater Toronto Area. Members regularly visit Yee Hong Centres and other senior care communities to perform for elders, using music to bring comfort, joy, and cultural connection to local residents. These outreach efforts reflect CPCO’s commitment to making music accessible and meaningful beyond the concert stage.
Together with the Canadian Chinese Orchestra, CPCO has performed at many notable venues, including the Markham Theatre, the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, the Fairview Theatre, and numerous community cultural events. The ensemble highlights the spirit of lifelong learning and celebrates the rich traditions of Chinese orchestral music through both formal performances and grassroot initiatives.
As a community-focused orchestra, CPCO offers adults a fulfilling space to pursue music as a hobby, participate in ensemble playing, and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of their communities. Today, CPCO continues to grow as a dynamic artistic home where amateur musicians come together to create, share, and enjoy the beauty of Chinese orchestral music.
