CSYO Spring Concert
Each year during CYCO auditions, panels of adjudicators will select the best players of CYCO to collaborate and perform traditional Chinese musical works with the Canadian Sinfonnieta Youth Orchestra. This year the adjudicators have selected Jade Fang, Sky Yang, Kimberly Yang and Sophie Du to represent CYCO to collaborate with the CSYO. Sky Yang and Jade Fang will be playing a erhu piece racing horses with the CSYO. Kimberly Yang(Zhongruan) and Sophie Du on(dizi) will be performing Pickig tea from the Mountain of Lugu. This collaboration and project helps encourage the learning of Chinese instruments and getting a closer look at Chinese culture through musical exchange. China Unbound: A Musical Journey November 17th, 2018 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School Theatre Free Admission As part of Canadian Chinese Orchestra's community outreach program. The Canadian Chinese Orchestra is hosting a free open to public concert on November 17th, from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School Theatre supported by the Canada One Family Network. The concert will be presented in an informal style, to introduce the repertoire to the audiences before hand and performing after. The concert will be conducted by Amely Zhou (Artistic Director of CCO) and Wang Yi (Assistant Conductor of CCO). 弦歌樂舞寄頤情 Enchanting Melodies of Yee Hong
Saturday, August 25, 2018 Location: Hammerson Hall Mississauga Living Arts Centre 4141 Living Arts Drive, Mississauga ON L5B 4B8 Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Mississauga Active Senior Program of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care presents "Enchanting Melodies of Yee Hong". This variety show features a diverse range of performances, including Tai Chi, international and folk dance, Chinese orchestra, musical theatre, Chinese opera, and more. The Canadian Chinese Orchestra was invited to join the Millennium Chinese Music Workshop along with Toronto Chinese Orchestra to present four orchestral pieces together. Collaborating with Carol's Yeehong Singing Group and Yeehong Fan Group, the orchestras gave a series of popular Chinese Orchestral music. 琴情缘 II Canadian Chinese Orchestra Concert
The Canadian Chinese Orchestra is proud to announce our Summer Concert will be held on Sunday, June 17th @ 7:30pm at P.C. Ho Theatre. Come to join us for an evening of beautifully entertaining music performed by the Canadian Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra and the Canadian Youth Chinese Orchestra. We will be featuring energetic and nuanced performances by musicians like Liu Lei and Alexandr Nabokov. You don’t want to miss this showcased collaboration of the zhongruan and daruan, two Chinese lutes, coming together in “Thunder in a Drought”. We will also be featuring a Shandong folk song “A tune from Yimeng Mountain”, a melodic piece from the mountains praising the beautiful natural surroundings.
