The Canadian Chinese Orchestra is proud to announce our Summer Concert will be held on Sunday, June 17th @ 7:30pm at P.C. Ho Theatre. Come to join us for an evening of beautifully entertaining music performed by the Canadian Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra and the Canadian Youth Chinese Orchestra. We will be featuring energetic and nuanced performances by musicians like Liu Lei and Alexandr Nabokov. You don’t want to miss this showcased collaboration of the zhongruan and daruan, two Chinese lutes, coming together in “Thunder in a Drought”. We will also be featuring a Shandong folk song “A tune from Yimeng Mountain”, a melodic piece from the mountains praising the beautiful natural surroundings. It expresses the love for the nation and natures beauty. We have an unforgettable performance of the classic “Generals Command” from an ancient song from Tang Dynasty 1000 years ago. Originally composed for the yangqin but later rearranged by Xiuwen Peng for the Chinese orchestra to enhance the texture and atmosphere of the piece, the Canadian Chinese Orchestra is excited to feature this piece. For a twist, join us in our appreciation of Michael Jackson as we perform “Billie Jean” arranged specially for the CYCO by Amely Zhou.
