Toronto, ON – Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Canadian Chinese Orchestra’s 2026 Concert “”Timeless Melodies: A Tribute to Teresa Teng”” on January 18th, 2026 at 3:30pm! This year’s concert presents a warm and nostalgic celebration of beloved Chinese classics, highlighting the emotional depth and enduring charm of some of the most treasured songs of the 20th century.
The concert opens with the brilliant Golden Snake Dance (金蛇狂舞), bringing a festive burst of energy that sets a vibrant tone for the program. The program also features the gentle and romantic Love Warms the Heart (爱在心内暖), adding a touch of contemporary warmth to the evening.
A special feature of the concert is a collection of works closely associated with Teresa Teng, whose voice defined an era and continues to resonate across generations. Classics such as Sweet as Honey (甜蜜蜜), The Moon Represents My Heart (月亮代表我的心), Small Town Story (小城故事), Green Island Serenade (绿岛小夜曲), Don’t Pick the Flowers by the Roadside (路边的野花不要採), and Fragrance of the Night (夜来香) showcase the tenderness, sincerity, and timeless appeal that made her music iconic.
Together, these pieces create a rich musical tapestry that honors cultural heritage, celebrates beloved voices, and invites listeners to rediscover the beauty and emotion of these cherished melodies.
CCO is also proud to showcase selected participants of the 2025 Canadian Chinese Music Association examinations with invited adjudicators from Canada Y.C. Music Academy based in Vancouver.
