Joanna Ng | Guest Conductor for 2021-2022

Joanna Ng holds Master degree of Orchestral Conducting (Northern Illinois University) and Bachelor of Piano Performance (Queen’s University). She has extensive experience in solo performance and accompanying instrumental groups and choirs in Toronto, Vancouver, Kingston, Toronto, DeKalb, IL, and Hong Kong. She is a registered RCM teacher, Suzuki Licensed Instructor, and a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association (ORMTA). With her own music studio, she offers private lessons in piano/flute/theory/singing for all ages from beginner to ARCT in English and Chinese (Mandarin & Cantonese). Her teaching style focuses on a well-rounded approach of techniques, musicality, sight reading, and music appreciation. She has successfully prepared students for RCM, public examinations, competitions, festivals, & university auditions.
As a conductor, Joanna was honored to receive the full scholarship for her master degree studied with Dr. Lucia Matos. Under the mentorship with Dr. Dale Lonis, the former Dean of University of Manitoba Music Faculty, she had the opportunity to attend rehearsals and concerts with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Robert Hanson. In the past years, she conducted the Northern Illinois University Philharmonic Orchestra, Kishwahkee Symphony Orchestra, Northwestern Wind Band, Winnipeg Wind Ensemble, and York University Wind Ensemble. Joanna is currently an active music educator and conductor. She has been appointed as the music director for University of Toronto Allegro Choir in 2013 and Ontario Cross-Cultural Music Society Choir in 2017.
